Frequently
Asked Questions
Are the hunts personalised?
We deliberately operate a limited number of hunts per year to ensure absolute focus on client experience and trophy quality. Our hunts are private, small group expeditions uniquely curated to the client.
Is helicopter transport included in your pricing?
Helicopter transport to remote Southern Alps locations is included in your package (weather permitting). If grounded, alternative transport ensures your arrival in equally secluded wilderness areas, guaranteeing your unique backcountry hunt far beyond any road access.
What equipment is provided?
We provide custom, high-end hunting rifles to all clients at no additional cost. If you would prefer to bring your own rifle, we are happy to accommodate this. Please get in touch with us to work through the specifics. All camp equipment, optics, and field gear are of the highest quality, selected for performance in alpine conditions. However, we do highly recommend bringing your own pair of binoculars.
How challenging are the hunts?
Hunts occur in varied alpine terrain and range from moderate to challenging. Good physical fitness is important; however, hunts are tailored to individual abilities. Helicopter access reduces non-essential hiking, ensuring the remaining physical challenge is a rewarding part of the authentic backcountry experience.
What is the process for getting my trophies home?
We manage the entire initial process for you. After your hunt, we deliver your trophies to our trusted local expediting partner who specialises in preparing them for international travel. They will then work with you directly to determine your preference: having the taxidermy completed here in New Zealand, or preparing your trophies for shipment to your local taxidermist. The timeline for this process can vary, but our partners will provide you with a clear estimate and guide you through every step.
What happens if I book a hunt, pay a deposit, and then I’m unable to make the hunt?
We understand that plans can change. While deposits are non-refundable, we offer flexibility. Should you be unable to make your trip, you can apply your deposit to a hunt in a future year, subject to our availability, or apply it to a replacement hunter that you have found. We encourage all our clients to purchase travel insurance to cover unforeseen cancellations.
Do I need a travel visa?
Yes, international visitors to New Zealand require either a visa or a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) to enter the country. The specific requirement depends on your nationality. We will be happy to guide you through this process once your hunt is booked.
Should I tip my guide?
Yes, it is customary to tip your guide for a successful and enjoyable hunt. Gratuities are always greatly appreciated and serve as a direct recognition of your guide's professional skill and commitment to your experience.
